IMPORTANT:
Before sending in a Listing Agreement, click here to go to our Breed List to make sure that we have a volunteer handling that breed.
If you would like to place a dog that is not currently represented with SPDR, we cannot help you at this time.
We suggest you use a search engine to locate a local breed club, or a representative from your breed's national rescue for help. Or list your dog privately with http://www.PetShelter.org. The following link will take you to a list of national rescue contacts for most AKC-recognized breeds: National Breed Club Rescue Network .
If the breed you are looking for is represented through SPDR, the first step in the process is to read and complete the Listing Agreement form. They will give us information about the dog, health and behavioural background, and help us get a feel for what kind of home the dog would do best in. There is a $5.00 non-refundable fee for the application to be processed. SPDR will forward the listing agreement to the appropriate breed rep for listing approval. Dogs may be declined if the breed rep feels they are not adoptable for health or temperment or other reasons. You should expect to hear from a breed rep within 7-10 days of the form being recieved. Please remember that we serve ONLY the Puget Sound Area of Washington State, USA.
Before proceeding, please read our Frequently Asked Questions about listing a dog. This will help explain how SPDR works, the adoption process itself, and what to expect as we proceed.
